This was the first song Linda ever wrote. The single was released first on 45 in the US four and a half years after it was recorded and then in August 1979 in the UK. Suzy And The Red Strips was a pseudonym for Linda McCartney and Wings. The recording features Linda on electric piano and Paul on bass and backing vocals. Denny Laine plays piano and guitar and also does backing vocals. Henry McCulloch plays guitar and Denny Seiwell plays drums. Also appears as track 5 on disc 1 of the bootleg CD set The Odds & Ends Collection Vol. 1, also in this collection. The Wide Prairie liner notes list the recorded date as 11/27/1972 however the later compiled liner notes for the 2018 Red Rose Speedway Deluxe box set list the recording date as 3/20/1972. While the version on Red Rose Speedway has a different mix, it is obviously from the same take. |
