Remarks
Most of the recording was completed on Feb. 4, 1968 and minor overdubs were added on Feb. 8, 1968. Some sources say the recording date was February 3, 1968. The original charity album mix given to aid the World Wildlife Fund that was later remixed by Phil Spector who also omitted the bird sound effects and added orchestration and choir for the version that appears on the Let It Be LP released in 1970. It was originally a rival to Lady Madonna as the Beatles March 1968 single release. It was recorded in eight takes between February 4th through 8th 1968. The bird sound effects were added later at EMI on October 2, 1969 and therefore the later released version on the Let It Be album sounds more like the original recording.
